Back to Running

I started running again this week.

And I guess it's okay.  My toe still kind of hurts a little.  I started running based on a 12 week half marathon plan.  What?!?  Yes.

I would love, love, love to run the Detroit Half Marathon in October.  I have until August 28th to figure out if I can do it without dying really want to do it since that is the last chance to sign up.  The training plan is one I got from a book about running for women from Runner's World.  The plan definitely seems very do-able, even for a non-runner like me, because it is a lot of run/walk intervals working up to the higher mileage weeks.  Even on the actual race day it suggests a run/walk interval.  I would like to be able to run the whole time, but we will see.

I've also been doing some swimming in open water!  My friend showed me this great little lake here in Kalamazoo that is absolutely perfect to practice swimming in.  There are no boats, it is small, and it is relatively clean.  I've been loving spending some time there relaxing in the sun and swimming.  I've realized that I love swimming in open water SO MUCH MORE than in the pool.  I just feel like I swim better in open water because I don't have to stop to turn around all the time.  It's less restricting and I don't have to worry about there not being an open lane.

I really wanted to go for a bike ride today, but they just dumped down a crap load of gravel on the main road outside of my neighborhood.  How am I supposed to bike ride in that???
New bangle- "dreams come true if you really want them to."
I'm glad that I've gotten back into some sort of training plan for working out.  I would still like to do one more sprint triathlon before the season is over, but am not sure when.  We will see what the next few weeks bring!
