Hiatus and a Broken Toe

It's been awhile.

After my triathlon and vacation I was slow getting back into a fitness routine.  Finally I got my butt in gear and got on board with some Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30.  And then work got really busy.  And then my grandma passed away.

My grandma had health issues the past few years and was in and out of the hospital/nursing home multiple times.  She had been doing well for about 7-8 months and when I saw her on Father's Day, she was in the best spirits I've seen her in in a long while.  Long story short her health took a downturn and her body just began shutting down.  It has been really hard for me to lose my grandma for multiple reasons.  She's my first grandparent to pass away, we spent a lot of time together while I was growing up, and she's taught my numerous things in life that I will always cherish.  I cannot describe how much of an impact she has had on my life and how she has shaped the person I have become.

Suffice to say, I didn't exactly feel like working out for a little bit.

This past weekend I decided that this coming week would be the week I would get back to it.  And then I broke my toe on Saturday night.  I rammed my foot into my bed post and it hurt like hell.  So, I've had it bandaged up the past couple of days and am hoping that it will heal in a short amount time.  I went for a bike ride today since I figured that is really the only type of exercise that would be safe-ish based on the broken toe.  It was a decent ride, but I felt like my heart was going to explode out of my chest....my aerobic capacity is definitely not where it used to be.

I really want to run and swim and get back to Ripped in 30.  I haven't swam since my triathlon.  I haven't ran in about 2 weeks.  <sigh>
