When 82 Degrees is "Cool"

Brick, brick, brick.  I knew I needed to do one today.  I really wanted to go on a nice, long bike ride with my new bike but since I've been bikeless since mid-last week I really needed to do a brick since that is what I struggle with the most.  I also knew I would have to get up early and get my butt out the door since we are in the middle of a high 90's everyday week.  I never thought I would say that working out in the mid 80's felt comfortable, but I did today!

The 10 miles of the bike ride went well.  I am really enjoying my new bike!  I was able to have a little bit faster average speed too, so that was good!

And then the running.  Ew.  I started off and my plan was just go slow and just focus on my breathing and body and not have to stop to walk.  I made it 4 1/2 minutes and I stopped.  My calves were KILLING me!  I gave myself a little 30 second pep talk, said you got this girl, and decided I would do some intervals and run for 4 1/2 minutes and then walk for 30 seconds.  Well when I got to 9 1/2 mintues I felt much better and ran the whole rest of the way.  I ran 2 miles and called it good.  I don't think I've ever been so sweaty after a run before.

I also have new running shoes which I've been enjoying but am really trying to break in.  I was experience some shin splints and other random leg pains that I don't normally have with running so I decided it was time for new shoes.

So far, I like them!  I have two more days of work and then it's vacation for this girl.  I plan on doing lots of biking, swimming, running, beaching, having friend time, eating good food, and gearing up for my triathlon!
